April is Cesarean Awareness Month!
I don’t usually post or repost controversial topics because I like to keep the vibe positive, (which is what I want to do right now for a lot of you mothers here.) I know there is a facebook page (that is horrible by the way) claiming that mothers who give birth via c-sections didn’t really give birth or that we are inferior as mothers, etc. The post went viral (the article was full of crap by the way) but I never shared it because like I said, I like to keep happy thoughts here 🙂
I came across a nicer article that I wanted to share with you. I found it here if you want to read it. I found it encouraging.
The article celebrated us and called us brave, strong and beautiful and I thank them for that!
Take a look what my two c-sections resulted in. I’m pretty proud of them. 🙂
First, in case a lot of you didn’t know, I had 2 c-sections. The first one was a result of 13 hours of induced labor and failure to progress. So, 13 hours of full back labor with no meds, trying to make it work and in severe pain. I didn’t “choose” to have my child via c-section. Once she broke my water and I still didn’t progress, I had to make that choice. I had to go straight into recovery after my surgery and when I was out and was ready to see and hold my baby, I was told that he was rushed to the NICU and he stayed there for 4 days. Let me tell you what happens to a new momma when she can’t see or hold her child. It’s horror. You think it’s not going to be that hard but it was tough! I couldn’t get up to the NICU to see him until after 24 hours after my surgery. That sucked big time. This was before cell phone cameras (yeah It was 12 years ago) haha I couldn’t get my hubby to text me pics of him or FaceTime with him as he was in the NICU. I had to wait. The hospital finally sent me down a pic of him so I could have it until I could be reunited with him.
My story is mild compared to some of the scary stories I have heard and I’m very grateful all was okay. I do want to say that just because he was “cut” out of me instead of me pushing him through the birth canal, I still “gave birth” to him. To be completely honest, I’m actually a little scared just thinking about having him the original way I had planned!
My second child was a scheduled c-section because of my labor history and previous c-section but ironically I went into labor 3 days early while eating at a Mexican restaurant,(and for the record it was the best burrito I’ve ever tasted!) I was taken to the hospital and had a c-section that evening. Full belly of burrito supreme and all!)
Neither were easy to recover from to say the least. It was horrible for me for some reason. I was in severe pain and I also had close to 9 pound babies so just holding them after the surgery was tough. I hear some momma’s say, “my recovery wasn’t too bad. I was up and around in a day or so”…….I’m super jealous because mine hurt like ____. I was also dealing with major postpartum depression so who knows if my time recovering was just a mess or I was just the mess. Either way, we ended up with two amazing and gorgeous little boys and that’s all that mattered.
My whole reason for actually even writing this is to let you know that every single one of you “mommas” is a total rockstar. It doesn’t matter how you delivered or if you adopted. We are all moms and that is all that should matter. So, let’s stop all the bullying and hating on the internet and just celebrate the lives we created in these bodies. It doesn’t matter how those cute, tiny little humans got here, they should be celebrated and so should YOU.
My speciality is helping women, especially those who are trying to get their bodies back after babies and encouraging them to be their best!! If you need help, please let me know. I can do a FREE consult call to figure out which one of programs (if any) I think would be the best fit for you and your goals. I will be honest with you about your needs and if I’m the right person to help you or not. I have been there and I understand 100% how you feel. I help women every day, all over the world who need to lose weight and/or gain muscle.
Let me know how I can help YOU! It would be MY PLEASURE to work with you!!
