Quick Disclaimer: I wrote this back and forth from making dinner so I’m just going to warn you that this post will have so many grammatical errors, please look past it. So I jumped on my laptop while cooking dinner to write this tonight to talk about choices.
We lead busy, chaotic lives, period. We make choices every day, period. Make choices that will bring health, happiness and ones that help you meet your goals!! Today was crazy, errands, work stuff, studying for 3 or so hours with two 5 year olds, carpool, tae kwan do, homework, very whiny and arguing kids, broken shower door while child showering, dog pee on floor, haha…..my insanely sore throat (hubby had strep throat this weekend so, uh oh.) Oh and it even hailed today! I’m cracking up as I type this because even with all of the things in a day, I have friends who are going through so much more right now, so I just have to laugh it off (even if I’m tired.)
After Tae kwan do, I CHOSE to come home and make turkey burgers for the family instead of stopping at Eureka pizza for the Monday Madness $3.99 large pizza. I know, it’s a great deal right??? Unless, of course eating pizza doesn’t help meet your goals.
Yes, we go there every once in a while but you have to get in the habit of making good choices, so when you have these moments, you can feel great about all of the great eating and other decisions you have been making and give yourself a free pass that day. Life happens. Move on.
As I’m cooking, (and all of the above was already written) the Biggest Loser was recording and right as I am almost done with dinner, I hear Jared (the Subway sandwich Jared) on the Biggest Loser and the children contestants on the show talking about making healthy choices and I was like, you know what? This was validation. Choices. Make good ones, period.
My 5 year old actually said (in the sweetest little voice), “Mom can you just get those burgers cooked, I’m so hungry!?” Haha, i was like really???? You should have seen the look I gave him. Then for one split second I thought….yep, I could have gotten the pizza, we could have eaten in 5 min and had no kitchen to clean but by golly, we are having turkey burgers!!! Haha…. So yes, we ate a little late tonight and yes, I had a kitchen and dishes to clean but you know what? WE ATE CLEAN! And guess what else, after all of that, our precious little 5 year old says, “What is that green stuff in the burger?? I said, “It’s celery.” He replies, “ Yeah, I don’t really like this burger.” Wow. See, we all have our eating clean kid moments. He did eat some of it and the baby carrots (with ranch) so, there’s that.
Hang in there folks!! Make the right choices, you will MEET your goals. Your picky 5 year old, maybe not so much. 🙂 He is a such a good kid, I just had to bust on him a little tonight 🙂
P.S. Yes, they ate their burgers on toast. We didn’t have any buns. haha
