Okay okay….I told you guys from the beginning that I was going to be “real” with you guys! So with that being said, I am admitting that I’m a total “hot mess” this week and last week. For one thing, yes, there are many definitions of “hot mess.” Here is my description of it describing me at this moment.
I have not been doing well with the lifestyle that I practice and encourage! On a normal basis, I eat clean, prep meals a head of time, eat 5 meals a day, drink lots of water, get “decent” amount of sleep, and get consistent workouts. And you know what, because of this lifestyle I am healthy, happy, and fit. Now, here’s where the “hot mess” part comes in.
I have been extremely busy the last week and this week. I have 2 kids (one has strep this week) 2 dogs, a life, and normal mommy and household stuff on top of all the other work things that I have added in lately. I’m not complaining (because I rarely do) but I’m merely pointing out that most of YOU live the exact same life. The last week and a half I have been so busy with other things, I have skipped meals (not getting enough food in a day is awful) Friends, don’t skip meals, it makes you dumb. I’m just kidding, but seriously, I cannot think very clearly without proper nutrition, water and sleep.
I haven’t had nearly enough water, not even normal amounts. I have not “made” time to prep food and you know what happens when you don’t food prep? I will tell you. You don’t eat enough (in my case) or you eat too much and you make poor choices. Uh hem…..Sun chips and hummus at 1:00 a.m. this morning. Just sayin’. I’ve even been out of my Quest bars which are a crucial staple in this house! EEEKKKKKKK
Sleep. Oh my, it’s just not right what I’ve been doing to my body. Last week, it was after 1:00 a.m. every night going to bed, some nights 2:30 a.m. Um, last night I went to bed at 3 a.m. I think that is a new record on a weeknight. It is just my “productive” time of the night, the kids are sleeping and I can get things done but it has to stop!
So, with the lack of sleep, water and meals comes headaches, lower energy, dull complexion and just plain “tired looking.” So, I’m declaring to make a change and get back to my normal schedule!!! Starting NOW, not Monday morning, not next month when it’s easier, NOW. No excuses. If it’s bedtime and whatever “it” is that needs to be done, “it” will just have to wait. I know, for us type A, “go go go” people, this is a tough one!
So, who wants to start fresh tomorrow with me!!??? I’m talking about getting back on a schedule if you are off one, starting one if you need to get serious, getting more sleep, eating on a schedule, drinking more water, not missing workouts?
I’ve got a huge batch of tilapia cooking and I’m about to make my quinoa for the next few days, do as much food prep as I can before I get the boys to bed, and I need to go to bed and then it’s lights out.
Anyone else struggle with this? I see a huge change in my muscle/physique when I’m “carrying on” like this. Your muscles need food and sleep to grow and recover. Heck, our brains needs food/sleep to function!! I did so many video shoots and photo shoots last week. The night that we shot the intro to my video (with me talking with the black background), I was exhausted, and we shot that right through dinner time and up until 10pm. I was brain dead. I cannot believe how hard it was for me to film that! Haha…..I was not firing on all cylinders if you know what I mean.
If you want to feel better, have more energy, look better, and just plain have more fun in life, get on a better routine with me!! Time management is key (and not my strong point I might add.)
THE TIME IS NOW. GET HEALTHY. GET HAPPY.
Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (NLT)
****Blog update: since this was written at the end of January 2013, I will describe what I was doing this week. Recommended by a couple of of you, I had decided to last minute apply for a contest for Women’s Health Magazine. It was for a contest named “The Next Fitness Star.” This week was crazy! In one week, we got this website up and running, among all kind of other crazy social media outlets, did several last minute photo shoots and many video shoots. I was beyond tired……I just wanted to explain that so it didn’t sound confusing on why I was so cuckoo 🙂 *******
