Today’s featured post is on Tina Campbell. She is a busy mom of 3 children who works in a bakery and also as a part time fitness instructor. Can you imagine working in a bakery with all those goodies!? Ahhh the temptations! I digress. I “met” Tina on facebook and is part of my “fit family.” I love her story and I love the caption she put with her before and after picture. I believe in this 100%, as we should use our stories to help others!
Don’t be ashamed of your story, It will inspire others! Here is Tina’s story.
My name is Tina Campbell and this post is not an easy one to share. Throwing yourself out there always leaves a person vulnerable and open to slander and negativity. With that said, I have had messages asking me if I always had a body like this, how I train, and what I do. This first pic was taken of me mid Aug 2011. I had been working with a trainer in the gym for 2 weeks. The month prior to that I was running and doing workouts on my Xbox, which I hated!
When people ask what made me keep going and stick with it…it’s simple. CHANGE. I put the scale away and took progress pics every month. I constantly challenged myself in the gym watching the muscles get stronger and push more every time. I watched my energy levels soar. I researched, hired trainers, asked questions, and started to surround myself with like-minded positive & confident people. I either ignored the negativity that came my way or chose to use it to fuel my fire. I started to use my positive energy to help others, not from a professional standpoint but as a friend in fitness. I changed my relationship with food, alcohol and sugar. I listened to what people would tell me. I chose CHANGE.
But I’m still the Tina everyone knows, I am human, I eat chocolate and have the odd chilled beverage or glass of wine, I order pizza & love desert. But I am careful and aware of what my body needs and wants. Food is fuel, period. It’s not a reward anymore. I teach my kids the same thing and lead by example. But it all boils down to positive change…which I still get daily. People say what I do is hard work….but really why? You know what’s hard work? Feeling unhealthy, having no energy to play with my kids, mood swings, low self-esteem, low confidence, constantly comparing myself to others. That’s where I was THAT is hard work! My smile comes pretty darn easy now, and if it doesn’t I am always a good sweat away from it you want it. GO GET IT AND NEVER LOOK BACK!!
